A criminal defense firm built on partner oversight and an in-house team

L and L Law Group, PLLC is a Frisco-based criminal defense firm co-founded by Njeri London and Reggie London. Our trial team handles state and federal criminal matters across the nine DFW counties — from a first-time misdemeanor to a federal indictment — with one operating principle: the case you retain us for is handled by our attorneys, with founding-partner oversight on every retained engagement, and we do not bring in outside or contract counsel.

OUR STORY

How L and L Law Group came together

L and L Law Group, PLLC was founded by Njeri London and Reggie London — co-founding partners who graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law and were admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2005. Both partners spent their early careers learning how the criminal justice system actually works at the courthouse level — from arraignment dockets to felony jury trials — and built the firm around a single observation about how many criminal defense practices operate: clients meet with a senior attorney to retain the firm, then get reassigned to the firm’s least senior attorney once the engagement is signed, or watch the work get quietly farmed out to contract attorneys they never met.

The firm was founded on a different operating principle. Every retained matter is handled inside the firm. The founding partner you consult with personally oversees your case from arraignment through disposition. The trial team supporting that work is a known, consistent group of L and L Law Group attorneys who appear on this website — not borrowed associates, not freelance attorneys, and not unfamiliar substitute counsel. Senior trial counsel sit on the firm roster as employees of L and L Law Group, available for complex felony, federal, and appellate matters under continued founding-partner supervision.

Today the firm handles the full criminal docket from misdemeanor traffic-stop charges through federal indictments. Practice areas span DWI defense, drug charges, family violence, sex crimes, federal target letter response, theft and property crimes, juvenile defense, probation violation hearings, expunction and non-disclosure, weapons charges, and the appellate work that follows. The geographic footprint covers Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, Rockwall, Kaufman, Hunt, Ellis, and Johnson counties — the nine-county DFW metroplex — with select federal representation in the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas.

The firm answers calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We respond personally on weekends, evenings, and holidays. A criminal arrest or a federal target letter does not wait until business hours, and our intake does not either.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

Four commitments that shape every retained matter

These are not marketing slogans. They are the operating rules of the firm — the principles a founding partner can hold the trial team accountable to on any case file, on any day of the week.

IN-HOUSE TEAM

No outside or contract counsel

Your matter is handled by L and L Law Group attorneys — the team you can read about on the attorney page. We do not farm work out to contract counsel, freelance attorneys, or anyone outside the firm. The trial team supporting your case is consistent from intake through disposition.

PARTNER OVERSIGHT

A founding partner reads every file

The founding partner you consult with stays involved in case strategy through disposition. Senior trial counsel can lead the courtroom work on complex felony, federal, or appellate matters, but founding-partner oversight is maintained on every retained engagement.

DIRECT ACCESS

You can reach your attorney

You receive the direct cell number and direct email of the attorney handling your case. Routine communication does not route through an intake coordinator or shared mailbox. Court conflicts and trials can delay return calls, but you know who is working your file.

WRITTEN PLAN

A strategic plan within 14 days

Within 14 days of retention you receive a written strategic plan: identified motions, projected timeline, anticipated discovery disputes, and the trial-versus-plea posture under the available facts. The plan is revised as the case develops, and you keep a copy of every revision.

THE TEAM

Two founding partners and a trial team of seven

The full attorney roster is on the attorneys page. The team is organized in three tiers — founding partners, senior trial counsel, and trial attorneys — with defined roles on every retained matter.

TIER 1

Founding Partners

Njeri London and Reggie London co-founded the firm and personally oversee every retained matter. Both were admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2005 after earning their Juris Doctor degrees from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. Reggie holds federal admissions to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

TIER 2

Senior Trial Attorneys

Michael R. Casillas is dual Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both Criminal Law and Criminal Appellate Law — a distinction held by a small percentage of Texas attorneys. He brings more than three decades of experience and admissions to the U.S. Supreme Court and the Fifth Circuit. Elaine Weathers has tried well over 100 felony jury trials in 30+ years of practice across state and federal courts, with advanced training from Northwestern University and the National Advocacy Center.

TIER 3

Trial Team

The firm’s trial attorneys handle the working docket of motions, discovery, plea negotiation, and trial work under founding-partner oversight. The team includes Tim Lacy (Managing Attorney), Tarlicia Armstead, Diana Jablonski, Mazen Radaydeh, and Christopher Schraer — each with a defined practice focus and a documented training background.

WHAT WE DEFEND

The full criminal docket — state and federal

The firm handles a wide range of criminal matters at the state and federal level. Below are the primary practice areas; the criminal defense page maps each area to a dedicated landing page with elements, ranges, and defenses.

WHERE WE PRACTICE

The nine-county DFW metroplex + federal districts

The firm appears in the trial courts of nine North Texas counties and the federal courts that sit in the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. The geographic footprint covers approximately 8.5 million residents and every county courthouse that handles felony criminal jurisdiction within the metroplex.

Collin County

Frisco home office. McKinney courthouse. Felony and misdemeanor jurisdiction. Drug court + mental health docket available.

Dallas County

Frank Crowley criminal courthouse. Largest felony docket in the state. DAEP, drug court, and veterans court active.

Denton County

McKinney-adjacent county. Denton courthouse with both felony and misdemeanor benches. Drug court diversion active.

Tarrant County

Fort Worth courthouse. High-volume felony jurisdiction. Drug court + mental health court + veterans court available.

Rockwall County

Rockwall courthouse. Smaller docket; faster resolution timelines on routine misdemeanor cases.

Kaufman County

Kaufman courthouse. Bond reduction practice active given pretrial detention rates.

Hunt County

Greenville courthouse. Practice covers DWI, drug, and probation matters that trip to Hunt’s rural docket.

Ellis County

Waxahachie courthouse. Standard felony jurisdiction with active probation revocation docket.

Johnson County

Cleburne courthouse. Southern reach of the metroplex; coordinated transport from Tarrant intake when needed.

FEDERAL ADMISSIONS

The firm is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas (Dallas, Fort Worth, Amarillo, Lubbock, San Angelo, Wichita Falls, and Abilene divisions) and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (Sherman, Plano, Tyler, Marshall, Texarkana, Beaumont, and Lufkin divisions). Federal appellate work is handled before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans.

HOW WE WORK

Methodology — from the first call to final disposition

Every retained matter follows a consistent five-step methodology. The specifics adjust to the case — misdemeanor DWI runs faster than a multi-defendant federal conspiracy — but the framework holds.

01

Intake & written strategic plan

Within 14 days of retention you receive a written strategic plan: identified motions, projected timeline, anticipated discovery disputes, trial-versus-plea posture. The plan is revised as new facts develop.

02

Discovery review & investigation

Under Tex. CCP art. 39.14, the State must produce its discovery; we review every page, request supplements where the production is incomplete, and conduct independent fact investigation through retained investigators when warranted.

03

Motion practice

We file motions to suppress, motions in limine, and challenges to the State’s evidentiary theory under Tex. CCP art. 38.23 and the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments. Successful suppression motions often reshape plea-bargain leverage.

04

Negotiation or trial

Pretrial dispositions are evaluated against the trial-posture analysis. If the plea offer makes sense given the facts and exposure, we negotiate. If it does not, we prepare for trial under the same discovery-driven framework that informed the suppression work.

05

Sentencing & post-conviction relief

Whether the disposition is dismissal, plea, or verdict, we close out the case with the right collateral-consequences analysis: probation conditions, expunction or non-disclosure pathway, registration triggers, firearm-rights implications, and immigration consequences.

WHY IT MATTERS

The commitments behind the operating principles

Beneath the four operating principles are a set of underlying commitments — the values that shape how the firm makes decisions when the rules do not give a clear answer.

Candor over comfort

We will tell you what we see in your case — including when a different firm or a different approach is the better fit for you, and including when the State’s case is stronger than you may want to hear.

Citations, not slogans

Every claim about the law on this website cites the controlling statute or case. No outcome predictions. No fabricated cites. If we make a statement about Texas procedure, you can verify it against the Penal Code or Code of Criminal Procedure.

Continuity through disposition

The team that takes your case is the team that handles your case — through pretrial, plea or trial, sentencing, and post-conviction. You do not get reassigned. You do not get a new attorney for a hearing because your attorney took vacation.

Written record discipline

Motions, plea analyses, mitigation packages, and strategic plans are written. They become part of your file. You keep copies. If we ever differ on what was advised, the written record is the record.

Plain-English explanations

The criminal justice system runs on legal jargon. The communications we send you do not have to. Every plea decision and every strategic milestone is explained in language a non-lawyer can understand and decide on.

24/7 intake

Arrests do not wait until business hours. Federal target letters do not arrive on a schedule. We answer the phone 24/7 because the criminal justice system does not stop for evenings or weekends.
