Why Do Some Clients Look for a Black Criminal Defense Attorney?

People in Dallas and Fort Worth search for a Black criminal defense attorney every day, and the reasons are usually practical rather than political. A criminal case is among the most personal matters anyone ever hands to a professional: you are asked to tell a near-stranger about the worst night of your life, your family, your finances, and your fears — and then to follow that person's advice while your freedom is on the line. Many clients simply want counsel whose lived experience overlaps with their own, someone who does not need certain experiences explained before the real conversation can start. L and L Law Group, PLLC is a husband-and-wife firm founded in 2011 by Reggie London and Njeri London. Both are Black attorneys, were admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2005 and 2006 respectively, and both hold the same title for a reason: Co-Founding Partner, Criminal Defense Attorney. There is no figurehead arrangement here — the two founders share the caseload, the courtroom work, and the decisions, and clients deal directly with the attorneys whose names are on the door.

Reggie London (Texas Bar No. 24043514) has practiced law since 2005. His work centers on federal criminal defense, complex felony cases, and TEA/SBEC educator-certification matters. The firm defends cases throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex from a single office in Frisco. Payment Plans, Spanish-Language Help, and 24/7 Availability

Being reachable and being affordable are part of how the firm was designed, not add-ons. Three commitments matter most to the families who call us:

Payment plans. Legal fees arrive at the worst possible time — usually alongside a bond payment, missed work, and towing or impound costs. The firm offers structured payment plans on most matters and accepts cash, credit cards, checks, and ACH transfers. Fees depend on the charge level and how far the case must go; we quote them plainly in the consultation, in writing, before you commit to anything.

Spanish-language service. Intake help is available in English and Spanish 24 hours a day, and the firm maintains a full Spanish-language version of this website so family members can read about the process in the language they are most comfortable with. Mixed-language families are common in our practice; nobody gets left out of the conversation.

What Happens When You Call?

The first conversation follows a simple pattern, whether it happens at noon or at midnight. We ask what happened, where the arrest or investigation stands, and whether anyone is still in custody. If a loved one is in jail, the immediate work is bond: what it is set at, whether it can be reduced, and how to get them released quickly. If you are calling about your own case, we walk through the charge, the punishment range that actually applies, and the next court date — in plain terms, without alarmism and without minimizing.

Have three things ready if you can: the county where the case is pending, the exact charge if you know it (a photo of the paperwork works), and any upcoming date. Missing pieces are fine — part of our job is finding out what you do not know yet. What you should not do before we speak is give a statement to investigators, consent to a search, or discuss the facts with anyone who could be called as a witness. Those three choices close doors that are hard to reopen.

From there, if we are the right fit, you receive a written engagement that spells out the fee and any payment plan before you commit. If we are not the right fit — wrong county, a conflict, a matter outside criminal defense — we say so and point you somewhere useful. Either way, the call costs nothing and the conversation stays confidential.
